  • Dan, a white man with a goatee beard, sits on the steps of a rain-wettened village war memorial, hugging a fawn-coloured French Bulldog.

    Found GCBX0R7 War Memorial #???? ~ Standlake

This checkin to GCBX0R7 War Memorial #???? ~ Standlake reflects a geocaching.com log entry. See more of Dan's cache logs. After liaising with the CO to get the formula fixed following my previous effort, the geohound and I came out for a drizzly walk in-between the downpours to have a second attempt at the FTF. โ€ฆ

  • The sun completely occluded by the moon.

    Three(ish) Weeks In Spain

With exceptions for those of us who had work to do at the start or end, my family and I just spent three weeks hopping around the East of Spain, featuring surfing, a theme park, exploring, dodging the heat, and - of course - a total solar eclipse.

  • Top surface of a TV soundbar showing plus, minus, and power buttons, and a red LED.

BeepAlive - keeping my soundbar from going to sleep

My dog ate the remote for the soundbar on my TV/media centre, and it keeps going into 'sleep mode'. So I wrote a software tool that periodically makes an inaudible noise to trick the soundbar into staying 'awake'. That's how a hacky engineer like me fixes a hardware problem with a software solution!

  • Dad Joke of the Day came to me early when some fellow dog walkers coming the other way said "Hello, gorgeous!"

"Ooh, thank you!" I replied, nonchalantly tussling my hair and striking a coquetteish pose.

  • I guess it's sweet that the dog has decided that I'm not to leave my home office without her noticing.

But when the naps right behind my wheelie chair I worry she's going to get her paws run over!

Full image of A fawn-coloured French Bulldog wrapped in a blanket in a way reminiscent of robes. This, combined with her wrinkled features, makes her look a little like Yoda.

  • Dan, a white man with a goatee beard, sits on a wooden bench in a shady area, alongside a French Bulldog.

Found GCBPAKM Grab a seat and Take in the View

Sat in the shade with my panting pupper and almost immediately spotted this clever cache container. A great location and an imaginative container! Definitely worth an FP from me.

Found GCBPAMZ Not the Twiggist of finds

A good hiding spot for this type of cache, which the geohound and I found while on a walk this sunny morning. TFTC.

    Thames Path 7

Ruth's completed yet another stretch of the Thames Path, continuing at what could literally be described as a glacial pace, and she's written another part in what's turning out to be a wonderful blog series to follow-along with.

  • A memorial bench with two distinct plaques on it.

    Four OpenBenches

Despite Google making it harder for me to do so ๐Ÿคฌ, I managed to add not one, not two, not three but four new memorial benches to the OpenBenches database during a dog walk this morning.
A particular excitement was adding my first bench with two plaques.
    It's the little things.

  • How kind of the humans who constructed this sofa to leave a perfect dog-shaped nest in-between the cushions. Our pupper is appreciative.

Full image of A satisfied but sleepy-looking fawn-coloured French Bulldog lies on a blanket that's slipping into the crack between two sofa seat cushions, forming a nest around her torso. Her legs hang, crossed, off the front of the sofa.

  • Dan, a white man with a blue ponytail and a goatee beard, wearing a purple t-shirt, crouches in a quiet rural lane alongside a panting French Bulldog, whose lead he's holding, as he smiles at the camera.

My GPSr - and my eyes - locked on to a nearby gate post which I searched thoroughly before realising it wasn't the host: d'oh! Eventually found success while the doggo tried to make more sheepy friends. โ€ฆ
